Fall is such a fun time of the year. Leaves are falling, the air feels crisp. Oh, and there’s pumpkin spice everything on the store shelves. Now that Halloween is over, you can get the girls together and celebrate the true reason for fall: pumpkin spice!
Make your party plan
I love creating and throwing parties. I’ve done it a bunch now and I have learned that before you choose anything, you have to decide who will be attending your party. Is it for your girls? The kids? Couples? Once you have that nailed down, it’s a lot easier to plan the rest of the party.
For my pumpkin spice party, the plan is to invite my girlfriends and their kids over. While I’ll definitely have some kid-friendly activities and snacks, I want to make sure the moms don’t feel like they are at a kids’ party.
For a casual party like this one, stick with themes or colors that you already have on hand. We use a lot of white and gold in our house, so it’s easy to pull in accent pieces with those colors. You don’t want to have to drop a fortune on dishes and decor.
Pumpkin Spice Fo’ Life
To make the party feel more mature, I set up the table free from “childish” decor. Blue, white, and gold are used so much in the summer, but I love it for fall as well. Just leave out the anchors and add in some plaid! The table set up was pretty easy. I had my kids help me collect some leaves from the yard to bring a little bit of fall indoors. We made a couple of garlands using the leaves and a bit of twine. Take those leftover pumpkins, put a coat of paint on them and you have cheap, personalized decor!
Since this party is about all things pumpkin spice, I served pumpkin spice cookies and marshmallows. You can make everything yourself or have each person bring over their favorite pumpkin spice recipe. To keep it kid-friendly, make sure there are some fun options for them at the table. I did a pumpkin-flavored punch for the kids instead of a latte.
Activities for the kids
Now, we need something to keep the kids occupied so the moms can enjoy all things pumpkin spice, right? I set up a couple of crafting stations. One table was set up with the pumpkin spice play dough featured a couple of weeks ago. I also used this pumpkin paint recipe for another station. If you’re worried about the mess, put a plastic tablecloth under the table for easy clean up.
Now all that’s left to do is invite your girlfriends over and enjoy a relaxing and refreshing afternoon before everyone is so busy with holiday activities.
How do you enjoy relaxing and unwinding with your friends before the holiday hustle?
