When I think back to my days as a student and watch my children in their own academic studies, I can’t help but think about how difficult school was for me. Not every subject, but many of them, especially math. Unfortunately, it took me a long time to find my place in the right school with the right teachers to succeed in school. Believe me, I have MANY math horror stories that I could share with you all….and I plan on doing just that! Join us for a #NotAMathWizard Twitter party sponsored by Osmo on Wednesday, May 5th at 6PM PST / 9PM EST to share all of your math stories!

Learn a little about Osmo

Let’s start off by talking about the Osmo. Tangible Play Inc, the brand behind Osmo, began in 2013 when 2 dads wanted to create something awesome that would inspire our youngest generation. From that desire, Osmo was born, which play is hands-on play for children with the use of technology. The Osmo brand creates educational games and uses various game pieces to keep gets engaged with their hands. These pieces range from coding directions and buttons, to play money and pretend pizzas, to addition & subtraction! Since its beginning, Osmo won numerous awards, and continues to keep children learning through interactive, hands-on play!

Introduce kids to the Math Wizard Series

When it comes to our children’s education, we want to give them the best and provide them with the support they need (without pulling our own hair out). Osmo’s Math Wizard series is an incredible way for children ages 6-8 in 1st and 2nd grade to practice their math skills while having fun! Most children have had enough of the pencil and paper math drills that we make them do in order to memorize the building blocks of math skills. Osmo’s hands-on games are a fun and engaging way for kids to get the extra math repetition they they need! We may not all be Math Wizards ourselves, but that doesn’t mean our kids can’t be!

Math Wizard and the Magical Workshop

All Osmo math games are curriculum based and focus on a different skill. Math Wizards and the Magical Workshop is the first game in the math series. This magical game focuses on addition and subtraction skills. Each game requires a base for either an ipad or an amazon tablet. Once you have downloaded the game and open the box to take out all of the fun contents, your kids are ready to play! Your child will use the spell book and the counting cubes/rods to create potions on the mixing mat! In this game they will brew potions with dragon claws and sparkle dust to master place value. As they continue their quest, they will count balloons to help the dragons fly!

Math Wizard and the Secrets of the Dragons

The second game in the Math series is the Secrets of the Dragons, a game that focuses on everyday math measurement. In this game, they learn non-standard measurement with food tokens such as hot dogs and carrots as well as standard measurement with a ruler. Your child will learn to measure at their own pace in a world filled with rare dragons (for added fun)! They will look forward to exploring the dragon reserve to complete their dragon guidebook. As they measure and care for their dragons, they will get to watch them grow!
