Fitness has a New Digital Best Friend!

Look at this little sleek gadget!  I bet you’re wondering what is is?
It is the Fit Bit and it will not let you get away with anything!
No more lying girl (not even to yourself)

How many miles did you walk, how many calories did you consume, how many calories did you burn, how much sleep did you get?   Your new best friend the Fit Bit is not afraid to tell you!

You can attach your new best friend to your pants, shirt, undergarmets or in a pocket.  It also comes with a wristband for you to wear while you sleep at night or for those naps you sneak during the day.   The Fitbit Tracker contains a motion sensor like the ones found in the Nintendo Wii. The Tracker senses your motion in three dimensions and converts this into useful information about your daily activities. The Tracker can also measure the intensity and duration of your physical activities, so no more slacking!

So where does all this data go?  It is all kept online in your very oewn personal Fit Bit Account.  Once you log in and create an account you are taken to your very own Fit Bit Dashboard where you log your food, activity, weight and sleep.  Anytime you walk by the included wireless base station, the data from your activity is silently uploaded to Fitbit.com.  So yes, it will literally TELL on YOU!

When logging your food for example; you type in the item you ate, such as Peanut Butter and a menu drops down for you too choose which type of peanut butter, you make your selection, choose the amount you had and all the nutritional content gets recorded!  You can also mark the foods you frequently eat as “favorites”  to make it faster to log as you keep returning to your dashboard.

The website is very easy to naviagate and I was actually having a lot of fun finding the foods I eat and watching the calories, fat grams, and sugar content get added up.  I do not have a Fit Bit and so I cannot attest to the the actual FIt Bit functionality and to wearing one but my best friend lets me get away with way too much so I may just have to spring for one!

  1. At Fitbloggin there’s supposed to be the opportunity to try something similar – it’s called Gruve .. I’ve never used any of these devices before but think they look amazingly helpful!

  2. This sounds awesome! It would be a great way to keep myself accountable and not be able to cheat on my diet/exercise/sleep 🙂
