3 Lunchtime problems solved with Del Monte Fusions

In Kids by Katie KavullaLeave a Comment

Moms seem to be on the constant search for foods their kids will actually eat (and love!) in their lunchboxes and I’m no different. It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut when you’re packing lunches every day, for multiple kids, and soon enough, your kids are coming home having not eaten anything you sent. The first to go? The fruits and veggies that you’re hoping they’ll eat!

Next time you’re stocking up on lunchbox foods, pick up some Del MonteⓇ Fusions! Available in three combinations — Peach Mango, Cherry Fruit Trio and Apple Pear Watermelon — each cup is filled with one combined full serving of fruits and vegetables. (Mom hack: The veggies are actually cleverly tucked into the lightly sweetened juice that the fruit comes in! They’ll never suspect a thing!) Plus, they contain no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial colors or flavors, so you can feel good about sending them to school with your kids.

Besides just being a great choice for school lunches, Del Monte Fusions are also a huge problem solver when you’re packing more than a dozen lunches each week (like me!).

Three different kids, three different appetites

One of the trickiest parts about packing lunches for my kids to take to school is that I have three different kids with three different appetites. My kindergartner hardly eats a thing from his lunchbox, so I have to make sure that what I do send with him makes a big impact… because it might be the only thing he eats! My 2nd-grader is a carb-lover — she’s the one who always comes home with her lunchbox still full with the apple slices or carrot sticks that I packed that morning. And, my fifth grader changes her mind about what she’ll eat for lunch (and, everything else in her life, for that matter!) seemingly every single day.

Finding a food that I can put in their lunch and have all three of them eat at school is hard and typically ends up with me buying tons of different things to try, in hopes that somebody with eat something. However, Del Monte Fusions are one lunch choice that is a hit with all three of them — even my kiddo who would eat a diet exclusively of granola bars comes home with an empty Del Monte Fusions fruit cup and a smile on her face!

When fresh fruit goes bad

I know that a lot of moms pack their kids’ lunches the night before, but I happen to be in the routine of packing them in the morning, since my kids seem to change with mind about what they’d like for lunch between the time they go to bed and the time they wake up. Even with packing them less than an hour before the kids hit the books, I know that by the time they break open their lunchboxes, the fresh fruit and veggies I’ve packed are soggy, squishy or browned. Yuck. It’s can be hard enough to get kiddos to eat fruit and veggies at school, let alone ones that look or smell less than tasty after sitting in their lunchboxes all morning.

I can’t tell you how much I love Del Monte Fusions for solving this lunchtime problem! My kids happily eat their Fusions and I know that they’re getting a full serving of fruit and veggies while they’re at school. No more tossing baggies of brown, stale apples when they get home at the end of the day!

Perfect Snacks to Send to School

Snacks, snacks, snacks

All three of my kids are required to bring two snacks to school… each. That’s six snacks, every single day, in addition to what I send in their lunchboxes. Let me tell you, it’s a lot of food. While I’m thrilled that the get the chance to refuel both before and after lunch, coming up with creative, new ideas to send with them for snacks can be a challenge — not only do I want it to be a healthy choice, but it also needs to be one that they can eat quickly.

Del Monte Fusions are a bright spot in their daily school snacks. My kids think it’s so fun to have something to eat with a spoon in class and every time I send Del Monte Fusions, I hear about how much they love drinking the juice (which happens to be packed with veggies!) when they’re done.
