My name is Nancy Pfeifer. I am married to a wonderful man for 10 years. I am a at stay-at-home mom. I have two daughters age 6 and 4. I opened an etsy shop, A to Zebra Celebrations back in October 2009 after much encouragement from family and friends. I have been throwing over-the-top parties for the past 6 years. I have been obsessed with parties since I was a little girl.
My girls are very spoiled when it comes to parties. I have been trying to find a way to teach them that parties don’t always have to be about them. This past September I hosted a “back to school” party and the kids invited where required to bring school
supplies to donate. My girls understand that it is important to love and share with other kids who are less fortunate.
As we approach the holidays, I wanted the opportunity to once again teach my girls that we are to give, love and share with others. I came up with the idea to host a “Christmas toy drive” to help some local families.
I contacted a few of my favorite vendors to see if they could donate a few things. Everyone was on board and I was able to host a fabulous party with help from friends and family. I always find ways to stay on a low-budget even though it may seem like I
spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I love to shop at garage sales and thrift stores.
The party was simple with a table full of sweets, treats, and desserts. They were courtesy of Buttercream Bling. I created the backdrop behind the desserts table with scrapbook paper and cardstock. It was very inexpensive, less than $5 in paper. I added some bows I made and cut out some green Christmas trees to add a little more color.
There was another table with fun drinks for the kids. I made the 2 holiday ribbon garlands on those tables. The plates, cups and napkins were donated from Polka Dot Market. Other donations like the paper bags with stripes, paper straws and cupcake stands were donated from Cakes and Kids Too.
There were 3 little tables set up with 3 different inexpensive Christmas crafts. The ideas were taken from Pinterest.
I pulled out all of my Christmas decorations. Everything was set up and decorated with what I had in my storage. I borrowed a few things from friends. I also made the holiday banners with paper.
The kids were super excited to bring a gift. They placed it on a “THANK YOU” table that was set up with a cute “THANK YOU” banner made by yours truly. The girls received a cute holiday clip, courtesy of Masterpieces of Fun Art etsy shop. We all had a great time! The kids loved all the sweets and making their holiday crafts.

I am the Executive Director of Fighting 4 the Tatas Breast Cancer Organization and we are getting ready to plan our first Christmas Toy Drive. We are very excited but scared given that this is our first toy drive and we want everyone to enjoy themselves. We also can’t spend tons of money, given that majority of our proceeds earned goes right back into the community to help those affected financially due to being diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I just wanted to say thank you for posting this wonder content and do you have any suggestions on how to run the toy drive, meaning how do you organize the toys for boys and girls the day of the event and how do you distribute the toys in an organized manner the day of the event.
