Champagne margaritas

The final school countdown is on, warmer weather is here to stay and we have summer on the brain.  Nothing tastes quite like summer like the perfect margarita.  With Cinco de Mayo right around the corner we felt it was time to taste test one of our all-time favorite cocktails.  You may have seen the twist on a classic margarita that includes a beer in the ingredients list.  It’s been said the beer cuts the sweet and sour to provide just the right flavor.  That got us thinking…could we replace the beer for a fancier alternative like champagne?  The answer was a bubbly, YES!!!  Champagne margaritas have the standard margarita taste with just a little something extra that make them oh so perfect for Cinco de Mayo and all summer long.

Champagne margaritas

Prep time: 5 mins.
Yields: 1 pitcher full

Ingredients: 
1 can (12 oz.) frozen limeade concentrate
12 oz. tequila
1 bottle of champagne
crushed ice
1-2 limes (for garnish)
margarita salt (if desired)

Directions: 
1. Empty can of frozen limeade concentrate into pitcher.
2. Fill limeade can with tequila and pour into pitcher.
3. Pop the bubbly and pour into pitcher.
4. Stir until well combined.
5. Add crushed ice and slices of lime as garnish.

To salt or not to salt

Perhaps one of the most dividing opinions amongst margarita drinkers is – with or without salt.  We prefer a salted rim so to achieve that restaurant quality look we used a slice of lime to moisten the rim of our glass and then dipped it in margarita salt.

Next, we carefully poured margaritas from the pitcher into our glass and used the slice of lime as a garnish for an extra festive look.  We are sure these extra steps will impress your friends and family this Cinco de Mayo and make the celebration that much more fun.  Cheers!
