Mia Hamm: Soccer icon, philanthropist, mom

Mia Hamm has two Olympic gold medals, countless accolades and was named the Greatest Female Athlete of the Last 40 Years by Sports Illustrated in 2012. She may be a soccer icon, but she loves her current role as soccer mom. SheIn addition to raising twin daughters, aged seven, and a two-year-old son, Mia is committed to her charitable foundation, The Mia Hamm Foundation. Her foundation focuses on bone marrow research — she lost her brother to aplastic anemia, a rare blood disease — and creating more opportunities for women in sports.

Residence Inn wants to help working moms

Hamm travels around the country on behalf of The Mia Hamm Foundation, and she knows how difficult it can be for moms to take care of themselves while they’re working and traveling. “Our crazy schedules can make any mother feel pulled in a million directions. I’m always worrying about getting enough exercise and staying healthy while I’m traveling,” said Hamm. She’s crafted two 10-minute workouts moms can do when they’re pressed for time, yet want to stay on track with their health. The routines don’t require any special equipment and can be done at home or in a hotel room.
