Why you should stay in downtown Las Vegas

What’s the first thing you think of while planning your next vacation? Do you base your stay around the location? Do you consider fun things for the kids to do in the area? How pricey it is? The party scene? When we travel on business, specifically The ABC Kids Expo, we typically stay on the Las Vegas strip. This year, we decided to try something different and to experience Vegas at its roots. We choose The Plaza Hotel & Casino, located in a prime location in downtown Las Vegas.

The deals

When looking to stay in Las Vegas, we found a significant difference in the price comparison of the downtown area versus the strip.. We asked a few of the hotel patrons why they chose to stay there, They told us when they were selecting a hotel, they called the Plaza directly. They appreciated the positive customer service they experienced at The Plaza Hotel & Casino. The stand-out front desk experience combined with the helpful recommendations and discounts made by the team helped further discount their stay. The relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff gave these guests a positive and memorable experience. Based on this alone, they all planned to stay at the Plaza again.

The pool and recreational activities

Recreational activities are all in one place! We agreed the rooftop renovated pool area shouldn’t be missed. With private cabanas, a vintage food truck hoisted onto the patio area by a crane and beautiful transparent hot tubs, it offers the perfect place to relax after a day of business!

If you love recreational activities, try the brand new tennis and pickleball courts.

The facilities

Are you an absolute romantic? The quaint, on-site wedding chapel offers vow renewals, or you can get hitched if you want to surprise your significant other.

If you are hoping to win big at the slots, the Casino boasts classic original coin slot machines as well as the latest games to enjoy. If you think you can be first to yell BINGO, you’re in luck! The Plaza Hotel and Casino hosts the only bingo hall in the downtown area.

Home to downtown’s largest race and sports facility, The Plaza Hotel & Casino elevates your gambling experience.

The scene that sets Oscar’s Steakhouse is absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant was named after the former mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman. With a clear dome looking out towards the sky, you can dine in style at a classic Vegas staple. When the hotel was originally built in the 70’s, a beautiful circular pool sat where Oscar’s Steakhouse sits now. When construction began on the second tower — and a new pool — years later, the dome became the top of Oscar’s.

Downtown Las Vegas

Don’t miss Fremont street, an indoor/outdoor pedestrian promenade. Located directly across the street from the Plaza Hotel and Casino, it boasts everything you need to get on with your day. Starbucks, Walgreens, and Sweet Spot Candy Shop help make those early mornings a little more bearable — or should we say late nights! Find entertainment right outside your hotel, including late night shows and a zip line. We appreciated how the recently-renovated Plaza Hotel & Casino kept the 70’s feel of the hotel. With large rooms including original black and a white photography, and updated public spaces, we highly recommend The Plaza Hotel & Casino for a memorable and enjoyable stay!

Are you confident enough to veer away from the Las Vegas strip?
