National Women’s Show-Ultimate Girls Night Out!

Finding time to ourselves can be difficult. Finding time for a girls night out with a close friend without kids for a day is next to impossible! I am happy to report that I did, in fact ,have that luxury. On Sunday, November 11, 2018, my long-time friend of over 35 years and I kissed our husbands and children good-bye and sped out our front doors. We were about to experience a day to ourselves. What to do? We decided to attend the National Women’s Show—Ultimate Girl’s Night out!

Girls Night out

Hearing the laughter of women

Upon entering the building, we immediately heard the laughter and saw the smiles of literally hundreds of women. These were women who were attending with moms, grandmothers, aunts, daughters, friends and the occasional male counterpart. These women were ready to experience the fashion, food, beauty and health tips from hundreds of vendors. Also, my friend and I were on a mission. We wanted to explore the latest trends, experience a beauty service, and sample some delicious foods.

Our first luxurious experience was with Yves Saint Laurent (YSL). We were beautified by Daniel Horvath, Leading Makeup Artist and Runway Specialist and the team of expert Beauty Consultants. We heard about the latest tips and tricks to enhance our look and took advantage of the free fragrance engraving.

Live an elevated life

Our next stop elevated us to explore for the ensuing several hours. We stopped by the booth of Elevacity (elevateitall.com). Elevacity is a company that aims to elevate your health, wealth and happiness through powerful nutrition. We sampled the Smart Coffee, a beverage filled with natural and botanical nootropics. It is suggested that the ingredients can increase the happiness hormones in your body.

Great for young children

We happily continued on our way and came across a great find for moms of young children. If you have a child that attends camp or a school setting where they are required to put on their own sunscreen, then you will want to check out Solar Buddies (www.SolarBuddies.com). This child friendly sunscreen applicator is refillable, easy to use and helps to reduce the mess of little hands trying to do it on their own.

Discovering #momboss

Another fabulous vendor was the Mompreneurs® table (www.themompreneur.com). This exhibit showcased creative, successful and inspiring boss moms. Mompreneurs® is dedicated to the support, education, and promotion of women entrepreneurs across Canada. We had the privilege of meeting Jody Swain, Founder of Hire and Fire your Kids Inc. Launching 2019 is the Parenting and Household Management App called HIRE and FIRE your KIDS. It’s a game based off her work experience that allows parents to HIRE their kids for jobs around the house and FIRE them when they don’t follow family values and expectations. Her goal is to nurture family bonds, save your sanity and create more successful well-rounded kids who are ready for the “real world.” Visit Hire and Fire Your Kids for more information.

Wellness and Rejuvenation

After perusing the aisles a little more, we needed a boost. We came across Sandra DeMaria, President of Vapz Inc. (www.vapz.com). According to Sandra, “Vapz Tastebudz is about making the switch to a lifestyle of health and wellness. We provide you with the products to help you stay on track.” We eagerly sampled a few of the wellness shots (Yum!), exchanged stories about our own health and decided it was time to pamper our outer beauty.

Beauty and Convenience

First stop was to follow the long line waiting for complimentary eyebrow waxing at Kimika (www. kimikabeautypro.com). Their show stopper was the The KIMIKA Raspberry face and body wax. They designed this wax for convenience without compromising on quality. Packaged in a microwavable Mason jar, hair removal couldn’t be easier. Containing only the finest ingredients and infused with botanical fragrances the KIMIKA Raspberry professional grade wax promises to deliver.

Suggested to be the most painless waxing available on the market today! Effective hair removal on the most course hair yet made for sensitive skin. You will find everything you need contained in a 6-piece kit to achieve optimal results. Kimika is offering 15% off online purchases (coupon expires February 28, 2019-one time use per person). Just enter the coupon code SHOW15. At home, I tried it on my 14-year old’s face whose “moustache” has never been waxed. We found this product easy to use, smelled great and best off all, “relatively pain free.”

Rounding Out Our Ultimate Girls Night Out

The crowds were increasing and the laughter growing. So, with a glass of refreshing blue wine in hand, our last stop was EON Medical Spa (www.eonmedicalspa.com). With locations in both Toronto and Woodbridge, Director and Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner Joyti Kaur (NP-PHC, MPH, B.Sc.N) and her team offer unparalleled attention to detail.  With over 10 years of acute care medicine experience, she shows a special interest in Botox and dermal fillers. Joyti believes that when combined with a healthy skin care regimen, these treatments can help give her patients a rejuvenated and restored look. She wants “to give every patient an exceptional experience, with long-lasting results, tailored to their unique needs.”

The visitors were dispersing, and our feet were aching. Finally, with bags full of goodies, sadly we knew it was time to go. The National Women’s Show was an opportunity to meet amazing women entrepreneurs and their incredible products. If you ever get a chance to spend some quality time with a friend, I highly recommended an event like this. I promise you will have fun and leave feeling rejuvenated, and glad you were able to share in the experience together.

A special thank you to my dear long-time friend Deanne O’Brien for a truly amazing day!
