It’s in your jeans! Which pair has your name on it?

The right jeans is not always easy to find. Sometimes a style will fit right in the butt, but not in the waistband, or will be a little too long, or a little too cropped, or a little too tight. Depending on your own denim DNA, you may have to try on more than just a few pairs to find that one that works best for you. Time invested in finding the right shape and fit will allow you to wear your new jeans on a regular basis.

Should you buy jeans that are too tight?

If you are contemplating buying new jeans that are too tight, PLEASE consider what material you are buying them in. If they are 100% cotton, chances are they will stretch over time, making them A-okay to pull the trigger on buying. A heavier denim will stretch less and just feel tight and uncomfortable. This will likely result in you having to unbutton your jeans after eating, which I have experienced multiple times. If the denim has elastane, Lycra or spandex, chances are they will probably hold their shape. For the most part, I am now buying jeans that I feel comfortable in which means not too tight.

Denim is a wardrobe staple so it may be challenging to select just one pair. Between, skinny, straight, boyfriend, cropped and flare, the possibilities are endless.

To satisfy a few different body types and styles, we have narrowed it down to the three pairs we want to invest in.

Thought involved with the Cropped Flare

Aritzia has developed their own house brand and the fit is great on the cropped flare. What impressed me the most was the material. It is heavy enough to suck everything in, yet doesn’t feel like that stiff denim we all dread pulling over our thighs. When wearing cropped flares, unless you are on the taller side, you may want to wear a heeled bootie or a cute pump.

Skinny jeans that are easy to wear

Although, these are not new to the scene, the high-waisted skinny jean are my favorite. They are very flattering and my daily go to jean. The high-waist silhouette helps give the illusion of longer, leaner legs (and who doesn’t want that).

Boyfriend jeans are slightly updated this season with a high-rise, rolled cuff, a slim leg. The feel a little less casual. Wearing these with a running shoe to run your daily errands and on the weekend are easy and comfortable. Yet you have the ability to dress them up with a pump and blazer for a night out on the town.
