Getting my style back {Twitter Party}

In Fashion, Style by Jenna3 Comments

Now that my kids are out of the baby stage, I feel like I am finally able to focus on my self and my personal style. When you are pregnant and breastfeeding for so long, you think more about functionality then you do style, at least for a little bit. The last year has been an important year for me and my personal style. Lisa has played an integral role in this transition. We spend a lot of time together, and I value her opinion. We work together, travel together and do a lot of shopping together. She has definitely helped me regain control over my fashion choices. After all, to be the Savvy Sassy Moms means to support one another in all areas of life!

As a mom of young kids, I ended up focusing on what my children wear more than my own fashion. While I always throw on a pair of jeans, I considered myself complete if I was wearing a shirt and pants. I never really thought about accessories. I rarely spent the time to pull a look together, except for the occasional date night or girls night out. When I travelled with the kids, they took up 95% or the suitcase. I was ok with the 5% left for my clothes. Needless to say, there was no room for a scarf let alone a purse in the bag. This past year, I decided to focus on my style. I enjoyed adding items to my wardrobe that made me feel good.

One bag is just enough, or is it?

The first bag you own as a mom is a diaper bag and then without even realizing it, you begin comparing every bag thereafter to it, expecting that one bag has to do it all. I always wanted to be the mom that was able to pull out any given item out of her bag at a time, think Michele Pfifer in One Fine Day. However, I have learned that you don’t need to have it all…in one bag!

I have recently fallen in love with the Large Utility Tote from Thirty-One Gifts. It is the perfect item for a mom-on-the-go for so many reasons, but what I love most, is that fact that I can have it all, and look good too! From picnics with the kids to trips to Costco, the Large Utility tote allows me to fit everything I need for any given event. At Thirty-One Gifts, you can choose the prints that best suits your style and they offer personalization. I added our name to the tote so that the kids know whatever goes in it when we are out will make it back home! When I’m not using it, it collapses taking up very little space in a closet or in my trunk.

Perfect for every day

On a daily basis, I want a bag that meets my needs and allows me to look the part. Raise your hand if you can never find your cell phone in your bag. I am the queen of this problem. No matter the size of the bag, it’s like a black hole that eats my phone!

The City Chic Tote has a hidden exterior cell phone pocket that solves all my problems. I have this bag in the charcoal pebble and I love how it matches my ankle boots during the day when I’m running around with the kids and my high suede boots when I’m headed to work or on a date night with my husband. Lisa loves that I have this bag as she knows that I won’t ever miss a call from her!

Merging my family life and work life

Lisa frequently divides my wardrobe in two: things I wear when I’m with my kids and I things I wear without them however, I have been working hard to make it all one! She recently told me that I needed a good scarf to travel with and suggested I get the Keepin’ Cozy Scarf. She knew that his would be the perfect item to finish off so many of my looks both casually and professionally and the perfect addition to wrap around my neck on our next business trip.

Look good and feel good too

Everyone should own items that make them feel good. Not only do I love how my style has evolved this year, but I love that I was able to do it in a cost effective way with products from Thirty-One gifts that meet the needs of my life as a Savvy Sassy Mom!
