Pinterest-inspired fashion: Radiant Orchid

Have you heard? The Pantone Color of the Year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid. I’m pretty happy to hear this, since purple is one of my favorite colors! It is, after all, the color of royalty, so I am most definitely on board. In honor of the color of 2014, I put together a Pinterest-inspired look to share with you today. I’m hoping you’ll be inspired to rock your own version of this Radiant Orchid look.

Radiant Orchid tights

When looking for some inspiration for an outfit that included the color of the year, I wanted to do something a bit unexpected. I thought it would be fun to accessorize with the color, instead of making it the main event. I think a pair of fun-colored tights is just perfect for achieving this look — understated, and yet just the right amount of color to show you know what you’re doing!

Purple can be a tricky color to style, since it is so vibrant and can be very in-your-face. So going with an accessory is the perfect compromise. I loved the look of the orchid tights with a navy floral dress, as found through my Pinterest search, and this outfit was born! Since the dress and tights are fairly outspoken, I chose a simple grey cardigan and some grey booties to match, to keep the outfit nicely balanced. Since I wanted the tights to pop by themselves, I chose a simple belt to tie the outfit together, and that’s it! I’m ready to rock 2014 in my vibrant orchid ensemble! Are you?
