Chocolate Avocado Smoothie

Avocados may have been one of the first foods I fed my kiddos but I’ll let you in on a little secret, I didn’t start eating avocados myself until my 30’s.  I want to love them for all the amazing nutritional benefits, but somehow haven’t been able to get there without chocolate or lots of chips. I do however love my smoothies, and incorporating avocados into them seems to be a win.  If you (or your kiddos) are like me and need a little help loving avocados, this recipe is for you.

My Favorite way to eat an avocado!

Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup almond milk
  • 2 Tbsp. cacao powder
  • 1 Heaping Tbsp. real maple syrup (you can also use raw honey if preferred)
  • 1 Tbsp. chia seeds
  • 1/4 Cup raw cashews
  • 1 Heaping Tbsp. peanut butter (or chosen nut butter)
  • 1 Banana
  • 1/2 Cup ice
Instructions:

Put all the ingredients in blender and blend for 30 seconds or until smooth. This smoothie will be thick and creamy.  Feel free to adjust ingredients based on preference and taste buds. The nut butters and milks can easily be swapped. Also note I love to include collagen peptides in mine for additional benefits. For the kiddos I also sneak in spinach — chocolate is a great cover for greens!
