Breastfeeding Essentials!

In Baby, Kids by savvysassymoms2 Comments

At some point during “Bump Month” the Boobies were gonna have to perk up!  So let’s take a minute to talk about the girls and how pregnancy affects them.  I found breastfeeding to be very annoying and painful, in fact it made me cry more than once.  I lasted about 22 whole days.  Sure I tried to get into it and feel how natural and tender those moments were with my new baby.  But I was cranky,  I hadn’t showered, I was sore from a C-section and I wanted out of my pajamas!

So of course you are suppose  to ween your baby off of the breast onto the bottle,  I weened for 1 day.  It was straight to the bottle baby.  My boobies were engorged, sore, and one even started to bleed and well, that was enough to convince me that my girls were just not cut out for it.

I wonder if having a cashmere sweater to cover and help soothe my girls would have helped? Bamboobies are super soft velour nursing pads made from bamboo and are the cashmere sweater for boobies!  The bamboo and hemp fabric will also absorb 4x more milk than cotton.  No more milk stains, no more chafing and since they are washable that means no waste!  I just love the name too – Bamboobies, made by a Mom in Colorado.

So I don’t mean to scare you but going into the shower with engorged breasts and sore nipples is like having darts fly at your nipples!  It hurts.  This is my gift to you, the Shower Hug, don’t go in the shower without it!  It covers and protects you from the harsh water, soaps and other chemical residues as well as hold hot or cold packs in place for soothing engorged breasts.  This is a great alternative to a bra at night too, it is soft and suppotive to wear to bed and easy to undo for those middle of the night feedings.

Sore nipples – ok you get it!   There has to be some sort of cream or lotion or for them right?  Natural Nipple Butter is a rich, organic nipple cream, made with naturally healing organic calendula, cocoa butter, shea butter and mango butter. It is clinically tested and safe for both nursing mamas and babies – no need to wash it off before nursing – and it is hospital recommended!

So now with all the joy from nursing you may start to get a little dazed and confused.   It seems like baby has been eating all day so you have no idea which boob is up next or how much your new baby has already had.  Milk Bands will help organize the boob schedule and remind you which is up next simply by turning the bracelet inside out.  There are also time measuring sliders to help tell you how much your baby ate and what time.  Simple and Smart!

  1. I don’t really have any boobie secrets you haven’t covered. A shower can be absolute agony for a new mom! I need all these products! Never had them with the other 3, but could have used all of them.
