Spring is in the air and for some of us, so is the urge to clean. Instead of focusing all of that energy on the house and the yard, put some of it to use on your own body and treat yourself to this spinach orange green smoothie. This green smoothie recipe is so delicious! Add in some hemp seeds for protein, and you’ll be feeling great all day long.
Spinach Orange Green Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:
- 1 navel orange, peeled
- 1/2 banana, peeled
- 1 cup tightly packed organic spinach
- 1/4 cup coconut water, adjusted as desired
- 1 tablespoon hemp seeds, optional
- Ice
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a blender with a few ice cubes and blend on high to combine.
- Add more coconut water as desired to reach desired consistency for smoothie.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Green Smoothie Recipe ingredient facts
Both spinach and orange are good sources of choline, which helps improve mental function, and vitamin C. They are also considered antioxidant and anti-cancer foods, making this green smoothie great for staying healthy. A little bit of fresh banana helps to thicken the smoothie while also adding in potassium and vitamin B6.
If enjoying this green smoothie in the morning or as a snack, include a tablespoon of hemp seeds to add protein. If you’ve never heard of hemp seeds before, they are an easy to digest complete protein source that are great for adding to smoothies, salads and even desserts. They can be found at health food stores such as Whole Foods or ordered online. I’ve even seen them sold in bulk at Costco.
Enjoy it all year long
Since all of these ingredients are available year round, you’ll be able to enjoy this spinach orange smoothie whenever you want. However, as different types of orange come into season throughout the year, try using those instead of regular navel oranges to switch things up a bit. Cheers to good health!

Yum! I am ADDICTED to green smoothies, and will definitely have to try this one out! You should try using a frozen banana, too- it makes the consistency so delicious!
xo
I think my kid would even drink this!

Just tried this and I must admit that it tasted great. What kind of blender do you use to get it so smooth? I’m using a Ninja and my spinach didn’t blend evenly.
Sharon, the trick is to mix the spinach with the liquid first, and then blend the rest.

New to smoothies in general but gave it a try for breakfast on the go. The fruit blends are ok but my first green smoothie and I am in love, this is my new breakfast smoothie! Thank you x
This was delicious! But I didn’t have any coconut water or an orange, so I substituted 1 cup orange juice and I also added a little more banana. It was amazing!

I tried my first green smoothie today! It was so much better than I thought it would be!
I used valencia orange (it is quite juicy but I don’t know if it’s as sweet as navel) and instead of the hemp seeds I used a bit of sunflower and chia seeds. My husband also managed to drink a bit (which is saying a lot because he barely eats salad, let alone drinking green stuff). It didn’t convince my 2 year old, maybe next time i’ll put the whole banana for extra sweetness.

Would this be good with protein powder mixed in? Vanilla maybe?
Well I might need a more powerful blender to get mine completely smooth but I quite enjoyed the little bits of spinach.
Not sure if it was because my banana was a little overripe (and I have no clue what a naval orange is,,,,almost sounds like a medical condition ?) but mine tasted a bit strange like too much banana (only used half a small one) so I added the juice of a whole lime and it was delicious ?
These Smoothie recipe loos so healthily. Thanks for sharing
