Paris fashion week

The weather in Paris during Haute Couture Fashion Week is tentative. It ranges from cold and rainy to extremely warm. It didn’t really matter to me, though, Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is in full swing. The designers are ready to share their work, and I was in the heart of the action.

Ewa Minge “FAIRYTALE”

I first stopped at Hôtel Shangri-La Paris to witness the creative and enchanting designs of the Ewa Minge Fairtytale 2017/2018 collection. The collection was shown in a fairly intimate setting, with rooms available for the attendees to sit in, 3 rows deep.

The Ewa Minge collection caters to women of all shapes and sizes. Minge’s designs separate themselves from the norm with multi-layered pieces, mixed textures and pops of colour with the use of accessories and details. Ewa Minge’s designs, transport us into a fairytale like setting. The models wore street-smart pieces that are sophisticated enough to double into evening wear. Minge added combat boots and butterfly accessories making this collection wearable yet sophisticated.

Laskaris  “PRISMA”

Laskaris couture collection for Fall-Winter 2017-2018 was shared during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week at Faust Pont Alexandre. The unique runway was illuminated with rows of lights on the ceiling, creating a chic atmosphere for the show. Models wore gowns with cutouts, capes and aplliques that gave a unique style to the runway. The geometric shapes used throughout the collection undoubtably highlight the designer’s viewpoint. Pairing these shapes with jewel tones and unconventional elements like butterflies made for a stunning collection.

Ziad Nakad “THE SNOW CRYSTAL FOREST”

The Ziad Nakad 2017/2018 Haute Couture collection can be described as magical, feminine and romantic. The theme was decidedly “Snow Crystal Forest,” and the models wore gowns of mainly neutral hues, white being the premdominate color. The show’s individual looks were categorized by color, and models walked in embellished, detailed and ornate pieces in an ombre of colors down the catwalk at the Hotel Westin Paris Vendôme.

The gowns were bejewelled with matching accessories, including crowns! The sparkling pieces were illuminated by the crystals, textures, feathers and embroideries. What makes Ziad Nakad designs ultra modern are the sheer pockets, tone on tone accessories, matching bags to the gowns and the neutral tones.

Which pieces do you think are wearable right off the runway?
