Over the weekend I had the pleasure of seeing the makeover master Clinton Kelly by attending the Clinton Kelly Fashion presentation at Macy’s Ala Moana. As I’m sure you can imagine, Clinton Kelly, best known as the co-host of “What Not to Wear” and ABC’s cooking show “The Chew” is not only smart and witty he is hysterically funny! It was non-stop laughs from start to finish.
The show started off with some very brave women from the audience standing up while he critiqued their outfits. In typical “What Not to Wear” fashion- he tore their fashion choices down and built them right back up with a fun dose of humor and sincerity. There is no way you can walk away with bad fashion advice from this man.
The runway models were of all shapes and sizes making it easy for members of the audience to visualize themselves in these hot new trends. I know I walked away with some great fashion tips that I’ll be sure to use during my next shopping trip.
Some of the trends showcased were colored denim, hounds tooth, lace, jackets and this seasons color, burgundy or otherwise referred to as oxblood.
Those Michael Kors shoes were fabulous!
Clinton’s Tips:
Hem your tops so they are not so long as to cover the bum or the crotch area because this will automatically makes your legs appear shorter. So make sure that you hem your tops so that they hit about the mid hip. This will make your legs look longer.
He also stressed the importance of wearing clothes that fit, even if that means having them altered. Purchase your clothes a little bigger so that they can be custom fit to your body. Especially important for petites and plus sizes.
Some of my favorite statements from the Q and A after the show:
“I really do feel that the American woman has sort of opted out of style.” “There are so many ways to be casual and stylish and comfortable without the mom jeans and a t-shirt.” Amen to that!
“It’s just as easy to put on a good pair of jeans as it is a bad pair of jeans. You have to do a little work to find a good pair of jeans.”
Macy’s also offered a copy of Clinton Kelly’s new book “Oh No She Didn’t” with any purchase of women’s clothing or Estee Lauder of $100.
