Julianne Hough is gorgeous, but from the moment she starts talking you know that this girl is not getting by on her good looks. She’s honest, sinciere, tough and isn’t afraid to work hard to get what she wants. I recently got a chance to meet and interview her about her latest movie Safe Haven, where she stars opposite Josh Duhamel in this romantic thriller from Nicholas Sparks. (The movie is in theaters now.) We also got to and talk about her new partnership with Sole Society, which I couldn’t wait to hear more.
SavvySassy:
Your character in the movie Safe Haven takes a risk by leaving her husband, so in your own like personally and professionally what risks have you taken?
Julianne:
I would say moving back to the States when I was 15 because it was scary. It was as if I had my whole life ahead of me with ballroom dancing and competing, and could have started this life and stuck with it. But, it was scary to come back because that was all that I knew.
The other big risk was, I would say, probably getting off of Dancing with the Stars because, again, it was like, oh, I could keeping doing this, and it’s comfortable. But, I want to act, I want to sing, I want to do my charity, I want to design shoes. And it’s scary because you really don’t know if it’s going to work or not. I want to do all these different things.
The most proud you should be of yourself is by doing something that is out of your comfort zone and taking that step and making that risk, or taking that risk because you never know if it’s going to work out or not, but you’ve just got to believe. But, I think that’s where I feel confident in myself is that I’ve been a fighter my whole life, and I’m going to continue to do that.
SHOES. Every girl loves shoes, so why not design a collection of shoes for Sole Society right?
Savvy Sassy: Tell us what you love about SoleSociety and this new collaboration?
Julianne: So, what I love about Sole Society is that they’re super, super fashion forward. A lot of these shoes from major designers that we’ve kind of created into our own but that are kind of in that perfect price range where, again, they’re fashion forward and more mature than maybe like a young teen shoe, but they’re still in that good price range. So, I love that.
SavvySassy: How is this collection similar to you and your style?
Julianne: I usually wear a lot of neutral tones, and the designer from SoleSociety who I worked with, she helped me bring out the color. They’re really colorful. I’ve never really realized how much you can actually wear with colorful shoes and how fun it is. Plus, it’s feet, dancing, I mean, it’s kind of me.
Julianne and Sole Society will release five new styles per month for the next six months. Julianne’s collection will feature a range of shoe silhouettes (flats, heels, sandals, etc.), each in multiple color options. Retail prices will start at $49.95 and will be co-designed and manufactured in collaboration with Vince Camuto.
Julianne Hough for Sole Society is available to purchase on Sole Society’s website, on Nordstrom.com and in 36 select Nordstrom full-line stores across the country.
