Halloween Math Activities to keep kids busy

Maybe it’s the teacher in me, but I think there is always an opportunity to learn! We have shared our Halloween Bingo and Halloween literacy activities, and now we are sharing our dinner Halloween math activities! Math is such a fun thing to practice with your kids and there are so many ways to do it…especially with candy! These halloween math activities are great to keep your kids busy (and learning)!

Count your candy

Whether you are going trick or treating or not, I’m sure your kids will be enjoying treats of some kind! Why not make them work for those special treats and learn while they eat! This is such a fun way to learn. Encourage your child to graph the color of the candy wrapper or open up a bag of candy like skittles and graph how many of each color you have. I love this activity!! You can re-create this for anything…cars, animals, marbles, whatever! If you are looking for a graph for something you kids love, leave it in the comments below and I will create one for you! I have created 2 color options for you below. Simply click the “Click To Download” button and print!

Better yet, I added an empty one for your kids to decide what colors they want to use! Download that one below as well!

More or less?

Well, if you’re asking me, I will always go for more when it comes to candy! Just kidding! This is a great way for your children to recognize bigger and smaller numbers. If they haven’t learned the signs yet, then what better way to teach your kids than with Halloween candy! It’s easy to understand that the “math monster” wants to eat the greater amount of candy! Counting Shapes

Shapes are a big part of math, so what better way to celebrate Halloween then by counting the shapes on the Jack O’lanterns face! These are cute activities to do with you kids and they will hardly know that they are learning! Take out your colors and get your kids to color and count! We have one friendly looking jack o’lantern and one a little less friendly! Click to the happy jack o’lanterns below to see our “less” friendly one! Have fun!

Happy Halloween! Have fun!
